How to Activate Windows 11

Windows 11 activation confirms that your copy of Windows has a valid digital license or product key. Activation is separate from installing Windows, so you can complete the installation first and then verify the license status.

Check activation status

Open Settings, choose System, and select Activation. Windows displays whether the device is activated and which edition is installed.

Activate with a product key

Choose the option to change or enter a product key, then enter the key exactly as provided. Keep the purchase email and account delivery record so you can retrieve the license details later.

After activation

Run Windows Update and confirm that the installed edition matches the license. If activation fails, check the edition, network connection, and Microsoft activation guidance before contacting support.
